Day 8 - Where's Arya?

We walked down into the old town of Girona to walk the city wall. For GOT fans this is the city that was used for Bravos in the show. Walking the wall was interesting with some nice views of garden areas although at times incongruous when the view became multi storied buildings and children's
plastic playgrounds.

From Girona we drove to Figueres to visit Salvatore Dali's museum. The queues were long but we had bought our tickets online so went straight in. However, we hadn't left the queues behind as it was very busy inside. The museum was mind blowing in so many ways. It doesn't hold his entire collection and yet the sheer amount of work is staggering. It also appears as if there was not a medium that he didn't work in, he was one of those artists who didn't restrict himself to one medium
as is common today. He obviously had the most crazy, active, fluid mind to conjure up all the amazing thoughts and illusions that he used.

We were standing on a platform in a fairly open room when we realised that in the floor in the centre of the room was a rectangular inlaid piece of stone. We had guessed right, he was buried under there. So unlike the rest of him, so understated, no plaque no sign to indicate what people were constantly walking over.

After Figueres we headed back to the coast, first via Empuriabrava which didn't appeal it all. Some people call it the Venice of Spain, but it was just man made canals with crowded homes and boats reminding us of places like Patterson Lakes and the Gold Coast.

We continued our drive via Roses where a lot of the accommodation looked tired, as did the beach. We followed a very windy road for a while to arrive at our destination for the night which was Cadaques and were pleased we had made the correct choice, as it's a charming fishing village by appearance without being too sleepy.
